I’ve been using natural, sustainable products for my home for about five years. Here are the products I love the most!
Laundry Detergent
Meliora Powder Laundry Detergent
Why I Love This:
This laundry detergent comes in a paper container — no plastic! It’s scented with essential oils and comes in a powder format. Honestly cleans just as well as a regular detergent. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to liquid.
Wool Dryer Balls
Friendsheep Organic Eco Wool Dryer Balls
Why I Love This:
These dryer balls are made from 100% wool and don’t have any tallow (aka beef fat) that traditional dryer sheets contain. Once you invest in dryer balls you’ll literally never have to buy them again saving you money in the long run.
Bamboo Toothbrushes
Mother’s Vault Bamboo Toothbrushes
Why I Love This:
Using toothbrushes made from bamboo cut down on the amount of plastic coming into this planet. They work just as well as the plastic kind but without all of the waste.
Natural Deodorant
Why I Love This:
This deodorant brand doesn’t contain aluminum and works well. I do, however, recommend the fragrance-free version as the others all list “fragrance” on the label (check out my article that describes all the problems with the term fragrance).
Biodegradable Sponges
Why I Love This:
These sponges are made of natural vegetable cellulose, not plastic. They come 12 in a pack and expand in water making them must more cost effective than regular sponges.
Dish Soap
Why I Love This:
Dish soaps are another household item that can be full of sneaky ingredients like SLS’s and fragrance. I’ve had a really hard time trying to find one without Sodium Laurel Sulfate/Sodium Laureth Sulfate/Sodium Coco Sulfate but this one doesn’t.
Cleaning spray
Puracy Natural Multi-Surface Cleaner
Why I Love This:
This all-purpose cleaner is great for multiple surface types, doesn’t contain toxic ingredients, and uses natural fragrance.
Food storage wraps
Abeego Beeswax Food Storage Wraps
Why I Love This:
This brand makes the best beeswax wraps out there. They adhere nicely to bowls and are the best solution to eliminating plastic wrap in the kitchen.
Glass tupperware
Prep Naturals Glass Food Storage Containers
Why I Love This:
These glass food storage containers are made from glass which is much safer for food storage (i.e. won’t leech harmful chemicals into your food) and can be safely microwaved. I like this set better than the round kind as I’ve found the lids to the round ones crack over time!
Mason Jars
Why I Love This:
It doesn’t get more classic than this. I use these glass containers mostly to store homemade vegetable stock and dried goods from the bulk section.
Produce bags
Why I Love This:
These make product shopping a breeze as they’re mesh, biodegradable, and machine washable. Never use the single-use plastic ones at the grocery store again.
